Boys Town:

Rotary Club of Madras’ intervention to mould the destiny of boys from lesser privileged sections of society.

Rotary Club of Madras has over 120 boys at the residential complexes at Gummunidipoondi and at Selaiyur.  The boys are admitted at age 10 and nurtured up to age 18.  Thereafter, the boys may choose to study further or learn a vocation at Boys Town itself.

The boys are provided with food, clothing, shelter and education.  In addition, spoken English and etiquettes are imparted after school hours.  To keep fit, physical training, games and outdoor activities are encouraged.  Some of the boys obtain training in Yoga and Karate.

The Rotary Club of Madras defrays approximately Rs. 13,500, equivalent to US $ 300, to support one boy for a year.  Yes, it takes just US $ 300 per child per year!!!

You can make a difference in the lives of such hapless boys, drawn from broken homes and from lesser privileged sections of our society.

Your contribution may be made in the following manner:

  1. A contribution of US $ 100 is made every four months per boy.
  2. An aggregate amount of US $ 300 is made per year for meeting expenses of one boy.  {3 installments of US $ 100 every 4 months}.
  3. The contribution is made for a period of 3 years.  {3 installments of US $ 100 every 4 months, for a period of 3 years}.

Thus, 3 x $ 100 x 3 programme seeks to garner funds for a particular resident for 3 years.  Rotary Club of Madras is in a position to monitor and report progress of the beneficiary through individual communication to donors.

Boys Town is administered by Rotary Club of Madras Boys Town Society, a registered “Not – For – Profit” Organization, registered with the Government of India.  Donations made to the Rotary Club of Madras Boys Town Society are eligible for income tax deduction under section 80 G of the Income Tax Act. 1961.

Rotary Club of Madras has obtained the requisite clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs for acceptance of donations from residents/citizens outside India.
