Rotary Club of Madras - District 3230
International Service
Rotary International has it’s footprint across the world, with a presence in most countries and all the continents.
Paul Harris envisioned in Rotary, an organization that would remove national boundaries and make the world a smaller place. World Peace and International Understanding are as important to Rotary, as if fellowship & service to the community.
Rotary International and Rotary Foundation focus on programmes and events to build bridges across countries and continents. Group Study Exchange is one such programme of Rotary Foundation aimed at bringing people from different cultures, to sensitize them on living conditions and traditions followed in other parts of the world.
Ambassadorial scholarships, Global Fellowships of different kinds (for eg: Global Fellowship of Golf Loving Rotarians, of Cricket Loving Rotarians), Group Study Exchanges and Sister Club Agreements are some of the key programmes that build bonds across oceans.
The R.I. Theme for 2010 – 11 captures Rotary’s strong bias towards promotion of International Understanding. “Building Communities. Bridging Continents”, is a powerful line, urging Rotarians to shrink the world through Service Projects.
